“Both of us can’t look good at the same time, it’s either me or the house”

Who else has a thing for cleaning?

I love to clean. It’s usually my Friday morning thing – some good tunes on in the background & I get my Cinderella on. I find it quite therapeutic & people who don’t clean their own floors will never fully appreciate the part where you get to see how dirty your floor was when you empty the bucket lol. & no – not everyone in the UAE has a maid. I wouldn’t wish my mad house on anyone.

When you think of the term ‘cruelty free’ what do you guys think of? I usually think about vegan make up first, or make up which hasn’t been tested on animals. Then maybe I would also think about vegan food.

Only recently have I thought about cleaning products, I have been looking into the industry and I was pretty shocked/disappointed to find out that so many big cleaning labels still test on animals. What these animals go through it heartbreaking & I have no idea why some brands are still using this process when so many other animal friendly brands find ways to test their products easily and effectively without harming anyone 🙁

Anyway I had a look around my local waitrose to try & see what options (if any) I had locally & I was so happy to find this brand Ecover.

I bought a few of their products – my favorites so far are the fabric softener & the bathroom cleaner – this stuff leaves my bathroom spick & span. I love the smell of the laundry products, they are gentle natural smells which are not over powering & all chemically – but still leave your clothes smelling fresh and clean.

They are bunny certified & have their long list of ingredients listed on the website here. With absolutely nothing to hide, you can see a number of natural ingredients on the list like plant sugars, coconut oil, biodegrades and minerals.

Ecover currently sell around 35 products which include laundry detergents/softeners/stain removers & dish washing products including washing up liquid & stuff for your dishwasher. In the general home care line they sell all purpose, bathroom & floor cleaners too.

ANIMALS ARE OUR FRIENDS
All of Ecover’s products are Leaping Bunny certified. Leaping Bunny is an international certification that assures that no animal testing is done in any phase of product development by the company, its laboratories or suppliers. Because we respect our furry friends. – Ecover

The bottles are 75% Plantplastic® and 25% postconsumer recycled plastic – 100% renewable, reusable and recyclable.

The only thing I would say after using these products (well the bathroom cleaner at least) is that you perhaps need to use a little more elbow grease to get your place gleaming. However, I would much rather do that than fund companies which are testing on animals & have toxic chemicals kicking about. After doing some research I have discovered that there are loads more cruelty free cleaning products out there, here are some of them;

It looks like it is pretty easy to get your hands on Ecover too, just visit Ecover Direct & I also found this site Ever Green which is very easy to browse & shop on too – you literally have no excuse 😉 I truly believe that every time you spend money, you can make a difference. You can choose whether you want to fund companies who don’t trade ethically or pay their taxes, or you can choose to put your money into brands who treat people, animals & the planet kindly.

Is this something you guys have thought about before? Do you know any other good cruelty free house hold cleaning brands? Things can get pretty mucky with my two crazies. Happy Wednesday! Jess xx
